How to Monitor Reddit Account Health Across a Large Fleet
At 20 accounts, you can manually check each one. At 200, manual auditing is a full-time role that still runs on a 24-hour lag - and a shadow ban you detect tomorrow is a day of wasted queue execution you'll never get back. Fleet health monitoring at scale is an infrastructure problem, and it needs to be treated as one.
The Four Account States You're Monitoring For
At any given point, every account in the fleet is in one of four states, and your monitoring system needs to surface transitions between them in real time:
- Active: Account is operating normally. Posts are appearing in subreddit feeds. Sessions are live. No enforcement action.
- Shadow-banned: Account appears to function normally - posts, comments, votes all execute without error - but content is invisible to other users. The account is posting into a void. No traffic is being generated. This is the most damaging state because it's invisible to the operator without proactive detection.
- Suspended (soft ban): Account has received a temporary suspension. The account is aware it's suspended. Recoverable in some cases; requires rest period and reassessment before reactivation.
- Permanently banned: Account is terminated. Should be immediately removed from active campaign rotation and flagged for replacement.
Shadow Ban Detection: The Hardest Problem
Shadow bans are the monitoring problem that most agencies handle badly. The symptoms are subtle and the detection requires an external check that the account itself cannot perform - because from the account's session, everything looks normal.
Manual shadow ban detection method (per-account): open an incognito browser window not logged into Reddit, navigate to the account's profile, and check whether recent posts are visible. If posts don't appear on the profile from a logged-out view, the account is shadow-banned.
At 200 accounts, this process takes 2–4 hours daily. It's a full-time monitoring task for a VA who could otherwise be doing productive campaign work.
ReddFarm's fleet health dashboard automates this check across the full account fleet simultaneously. The bulk ban check - which includes shadow ban detection - can be run with one dashboard action across all accounts and returns results in minutes. The transition from shadow ban detection being a daily VA task to being a one-click fleet operation is one of the highest-leverage operational improvements the platform provides.
Karma Tracking as a Leading Indicator
Karma levels are a leading indicator of account health - they signal where an account is in its lifecycle and what campaign workloads it can support. The Fleet Health Dashboard displays post karma and comment karma per account across the full fleet. What to watch for:
- Stagnant karma despite active posting: An account posting regularly that isn't accumulating karma is likely shadow-banned or having posts filtered before generating upvotes. Flag for shadow ban verification.
- Accounts approaching karma floors: Some subreddits have minimum karma requirements. Accounts approaching the threshold where they lose access to a primary target subreddit need active warmup investment before they drop below the floor.
- Negative karma signals: Downvotes and report activity on account posts suggest the account's content is being flagged by community members - a precursor to mod action or ban. Rotate that account out of the affected subreddit before the action lands.
Building a Daily Monitoring Routine
Fleet health monitoring shouldn't require more than 15–20 minutes of VA time daily for a 200-account fleet with proper tooling. The routine:
Execute the bulk ban check across all accounts in the ReddFarm Fleet Health Dashboard. Review the results for any new ban flags or shadow-ban detections since yesterday's check.
Check the percentage of scheduled queue actions that executed successfully in the previous 24 hours. A drop below 85–90% execution rate indicates a systemic issue - proxy failures, session problems, or a subreddit rule change blocking the content type. Investigate the failure cluster before the next campaign run.
Accounts confirmed banned or permanently shadow-banned are removed from active campaign groups. Replacement accounts - warmed and iOS-identity-captured via the .deb tweak - are pulled from the warmup pipeline and assigned to fill the gap. A healthy operation maintains a warmup buffer of 10–15% of active fleet size so replacements are always available without a lag.
Review the proxy validation status column in the fleet dashboard. Flag any accounts with failed proxy assignments for re-assignment before the next queue run.
Escalation Triggers
Most daily fleet health findings are within VA scope - ban removal, account replacement, proxy re-assignment. But some findings require operator-level escalation. Triggers to escalate immediately:
- Ban rate spike above 15% of the fleet in a single day - suggests a systemic pattern detection event, not normal attrition
- Multiple accounts banned in the same subreddit cluster within 24 hours - suggests the subreddit has been targeted for aggressive enforcement or a mod has identified the campaign
- Queue execution failure across an entire campaign lane - possible proxy pool issue, subreddit rule change, or platform-level detection of the campaign structure
